The Sparks of Illumination has been a phrase that spoke to me for some time. The very first post on this blog from way back in 2008 is all about it. You see, a spark comes from a bigger fire. It's an expression of the fire, but tiny and self-contained within one speck. I want to be that spark - just a small part of a much larger flame. The Illumination part is where things get really crazy. There are three definitions for an illumination, and all three have meaning for this site. Firstly, an illumination is the great light. That's the light I want to be a spark of. Secondly, the illumination means a revelation of understanding. I want to love and understand God and people to the best of my ability, and that's one of the visions of this blog. Finally, an illumination is the adornment of books. And, as a writer and speaker, I want God to be so beautifully woven through my writings that he is all three illuminations - all at the same time!
I talk a lot about love on this site. When I say love, I mean the Lord God's unfailing and holy, beautiful and joyful love. I adore him with every fiber of my being. I have loved the Lord since I was eight years old and continue to grow in Him - slow but steady. Well, they say that slow and steady wins the race, right?
This race could end up being a long one, or just a quick sprint through my life before I'm called home. But either way, I hope that this site blesses you, gives you a burst of encouragement, a quick laugh, or a chance to think about the unfailing and beautiful love of God, through this Spark of Illumination.
